Susan Schmuelling

Mrs. Schmuelling is in her 25th year at St. Lawrence School.  She lives in Yorkville, IN. with her husband, Dave.  Mrs. Schmuelling has three grown children. Her two daughters live in Indianapolis and her son lives in Valdosta, Georgia. She attended the College of Mount St. Joseph for her Bachelor of Arts Degree and Teaching Certification in Visual Arts (K-12).  She exhibits her own artwork in Columbus, Indiana.
 
Mrs. Schmuelling has led our Art Department, is a remediation specialist to help struggling students and also is our enrichment director to help challenge our exceptional students. Mrs. Schmuelling started our robotics team that has performed exceptionally well in their competitions. She has recently become the chairperson for our new, state of the art, STEAM Center. This STEAM Center will give our students new learning tools that will advance their educational skills.

It's the positive atmosphere, great teachers, and wonderful students that have kept her at St. Lawrence all these years. It is an awesome place to teach because of all the support that you get from the other staff members, supportive parents, and the students who are excited about learning that makes it easy to come to school every day!   It is a mission, not a job!
