Mrs. Pam Leiker comes to St Lawrence School from Kansas. She and her husband moved to Indiana to be closer to their grandchildren. Mrs. Leiker brings with her more years of experience in education than she cares to admit. She has degrees in early childhood, elementary education, K-12 gifted, K-12 learning disabilities, building level administration, and district level administration. Mrs. Leiker was the first person in Kansas to be National Board Certified in birth to age 21 exceptional needs. Mrs. Leiker held Kansas teaching positions in preschool, first grade, sixth grade, K-12 gifted, and K-12 special education. She was also principal at elementary, junior high, and high school levels. Mrs. Leiker was recognized as a Kansas Master Teacher and served on several state committees including teacher recruitment, the licensure board, and the standards board.
Mrs. Leiker has said for years she was searching for a place where it was about the learning without the extraneous factors that cloud education. St. Lawrence Preschool is that place. Mrs. Leiker developed the preschool program using her expertise in Visual Phonics and learning styles. The program is dynamic to adjust to each child’s learning level. The preschool program also builds vocabulary and background knowledge. Children read better when they’ve heard the words before.
